The black middle class in South Africa is growing at a rapid rate.

A study done through the Stellenbosch University shows that Black South Africans now represent the largest share of the middle class. This seems like absolutely fantastic news in our new democratic country, however what the study omits to show is the increased levels of poverty among white South Africans.

Experienced white workers are being retrenched / fired for no reason other than to promote their junior / less experienced black workers into these positions. The lack of skills and experience results in these exact same companies going into debt, corruption and ending up with closed doors sooner or later. Try searching for a job on any major career website in South Africa and you’ll find that most of them are posted as “EE Candidates Only” which stands for Employment Equity.
